Dear WHS Families and Friends,
One of the best parts of being a principal is the ability that I have to enter every classroom at Windsor High School to watch what students are learning and get a focused perspective about the details that create excellence. In my time in education, I have found that the most important variable is the classroom teacher. At WHS we have an awesome mixture of relative newcomers who are rising stars and a seasoned cadre of master teachers that serve as important mentors to our younger staff members.
As I observe each classroom, I get the opportunity to see the relationships that our teachers have developed with our students. When you combine those relationships with the expertise and teaching acumen of our staff, there is the potential for learning to occur at a very high level. As we continue on the journey of the 2017-18 school year, engage your student in conversations about what they are learning. It is amazing stuff…
From the perspective of school climate, we have had a wonderful start to the school year. Coming off the heels of Homecoming & Spirit Week, I could not be more proud of how our students represented themselves, WHS, and the Windsor community. Of course, we will always continue to talk with students about the high expectations that we have of them, both as students in the classroom and as individuals outside of the walls of WHS.
In the next few weeks our fall sports will be winding down and winter sports will begin. In addition, our 1st Quarter ends on October 13th. This checkpoint gives us a good time of the year to check the academic pulse of students. If you have concerns about your student’s progress and learning, please contact us. And…as a reminder, we will hold Parent Conferences on Thursday, October 26th from 2-7pm. Hopefully we will see you here!
As always, thank you for your continued support, and…GO OWLS!!!
