Advanced Placement

Dear Parents and Students:

Windsor High School is excited to offer Advanced Placement courses to our students. Advanced Placement, known as AP, can better prepare students for college and beyond. Below are some brief facts regarding AP courses and how your student can benefit from selecting challenging courses in high school.

*AP courses can assist students in college preparation by improving writing skills, problem solving skills, discipline and study habits.

*Earning college credit and placement-More than 90 percent of four-year colleges in the United States give students credit, advanced placement or both on the basis of AP Exam Scores. (Please refer to AP’s website for information on receiving college credit-http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/exgrd_set.html)

*The AP Exam fee is $87 per exam-With college tuition on the rise; the price of an AP Exam can save money in the long run. Windsor High School students enrolled in an AP course are expected to take the AP Exam in May. To see all AP courses offered at Windsor High School, please refer to Windsor High School’s Individual Planning guide available for viewing at windsor.k12.mo.us under the guidance tab.

Again, we are excited about the opportunities Advanced Placement courses give our students to excel in college and beyond. Please remember a student may not drop a course after the eight-day mark. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
