Dear parents and guardians of I.C. students,
The end of first semester is quickly approaching, and although we are winding down toward winter break, our students and staff are as busy as ever. Below is a list of important dates for December and our return after the new year.
Thank you so much to everyone who was able to donate to Brenden’s Backpacks during our donation drive. Although need knows no specific season, this time of year it is so important to remember those families in need of some assistance. So 1,000 thank yous to all of you who donated.
Parent Pick-up and Drop-off Reminders
I wanted to remind everyone that our school day and instruction begin at 8:05 each morning at the I.C. Even if students arrive exactly at 8:05 or right before, they are likely missing a little bit of instruction or morning work each day. Also, if your students eat breakfast here at school each morning and don’t arrive until 8:00 or later, they are often missing up to 10 minutes of instruction each day.
Regarding our parent pick-up process, please use our vehicle line in the afternoon to pick up your students. Foot traffic as people enter the school or stand on the sidewalk or at our entrance creates potentially unsafe conditions for our students. I realize time is a commodity these days for everyone, but we value safety over time, of course, and the vehicle line is the safest way for us to conduct parent pick-up. My recommendation for avoiding the long vehicle line is to arrive to our parking lot at about 3:10 or 3:15, and there will be a short line if there’s a line at all.
During the winter break, our offices will be open on Thursday, 12/28, and Friday, 12/29, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM on those days if you need to visit or call.
As promised here is the list of important upcoming dates:
12/8: Gus’s Pretzel Day (Orders due 12/7)
12/9: Little People’s Gift Shop at the Middle School 9 AM – 4 PM
12/13: Incentive Trip to see the movie Wonder (Qualifying students have been notified.)
12/19: Music Crew Concert in I.C. Gym at 7:00 PM
12/21: Early Dismissal for Grading (NO AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING)
12/22: Early Dismissal for Winter Break
12/25-1/2: NO SCHOOL For Winter Break
1/4: After-school Tutoring Resumes
1/5: Report Cards Go Home
1/12: NO SCHOOL for Staff Development
1/15: NO SCHOOL for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Thank you so much for your support of your students’ learning and your support of public education. Please call me directly at 464-4407 or contact me by email at email@example.com if I can be of assistance.
