We are requiring each student to reach a rate of 95% attendance. In order to achieve this, students must not be absent more than 9 days (or 59.85 hours) for unexcused reasons per year. If a student reaches this mark of 9 days, he/she will be referred to truancy court. Any punishment will be handed out and followed up with by the Jefferson County Courts, The Juvenile Division and/or Division of Family Services. Absences will only be excused with a doctors’ note or with special permission granted by an administrator.
You will receive a letter based on your child’s absences to keep you up to date on their attendance.
Any student who does not arrive to their 1st hour CLASS by the 7:25 AM bell will be counted tardy to school. 1st and 2nd tardies are warnings.
3rd – BSD
4th – 2 BSD’s
5th – ISS
6th – 2 ISS
7th – 3 ISS
ONCE A STUDENT ACCUMULATES 10 DAYS OF ISS, OSS WILL BE ADMINISTERED IN PLACE OF ISS.
Keep in mind: The Middle School accumulates absences by “hours” missed, so if your child is tardy to school they are also “absent” and this will count against them for absences according to our attendance policy.
