My husband, Scott, and I have been married for 27 years and have three children: Eli, age 20, attends Southeast Missouri State University; Isaac, age 19, attends Maryville University and is decathlete for MU as well; and Elaina, age 18, is a senior and is involved with cross country, basketball, track, and choir. Scott , my husband, is the Hillsboro R-3 Intermediate School principal; our children attend Hillsboro R-3. We actually live in Festus, MO, and have lived there for 27 years. As a family, we enjoy being outdoors, hiking, hunting, swimming, traveling, and taking every opportunity to learn anything and everything we can. There is so much to learn!
I was born in Kennett, MO and raised in Sikeston, MO, so if you notice a “y’all” come out in conversation, you’ll know why. I married and moved to Festus, MO, in November 1992. In May of 1993, I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University located in Cape Girardeau, MO. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with a major in English and a minor in Forensic Communication. I hold Missouri certifications in the following: English (Grades 7-12) Journalism (Grade 7-12), English Language Arts (Grades 5-9), English Language Literature and Composition (grades 9-12), and Elementary (Grades 1-6).
I started teaching with the Dunklin R-5 School District in Herculaneum, MO. I taught English I and II, Creative Writing, and Journalism (yearbook, newspaper, and darkroom photography) at Herculaneum High School from 1993-1999. During that time, I also sponsored the speech team and TREND. I stayed home with my children from 1999-2008. In the fall of 2008, I returned to the public teaching arena as a substitute teacher for the Festus R-6 School District. I am now blessed to be a part of the Windsor C-1 School District. I flat out enjoy teaching and love the challenge it brings each day! In addition to teaching eighth-grade English Language Arts for Windsor and keeping up with three teenagers, my family worships with the Arnold Church of Christ. My goal each day is to find ways to create encouragement and hope.
