WELCOME TO WINDSOR ELEMENTARY
Windsor Elementary is located in Kimmswick and houses grades Kindergarten through 2nd, the Latchkey Program(before and after school care), and Parents As Teachers (PAT).
The Windsor C-1 School District is passionate about literacy. Pathways to Reading (PTR) is fully implemented in grades K-2. This program sees the need for both skills and application of skills when teaching reading. It contains the five reading components recognized by the National Reading Panel as being necessary for reading success. These components include: Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, Comprehension, Fluency, and Vocabulary. Singapore Math is fully implemented in grades K-2. Both PTR and Singapore are researched based curricula. Science and Social Studies are integrated through reading and writing (which includes handwriting). In addition, teachers utilize Differentiated Instruction and Cooperative Learning both of which, can be integrated into all subject areas.
Windsor Elementary is recognized by the state as a School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) school. We refer to SW-PBS at our school as The Windsor Way. The Windsor Way helps us to provide consistent expectations and positive feedback to students to foster respectful, responsible and safe students. Our staff continues to have training throughout the school year to continue growth in SW-PBS.
Windsor C-1 School District believes in the importance of strong communication between home and school. We are committed to providing channels in which to provide this communication. The school website (includes teacher webpages and e-mail addresses), Parent Link, Facebook, Twitter, and a telephone broadcast system are all forms of communication in addition to phone calls and notes to the teacher, to get information to and from you to help with meeting the needs of your child. Watch for emails from the office that help keep you updated about school events.
All teachers K-2 have webpages available for your access. Each webpage provides specific information about that particular class. Many of the pages include homework assignments, newsletter information, and calendar information. Some even have links to appropriate websites for children and class photos of special activities. Check out your child’s teacher’s webpage today and send him/her an e-mail to let him/her know you visited the site.
Parent Link offers parents the ability to access daily information about your child through the Windsor website. It includes attendance history, lunch balances, medical information, discipline notes and more. Be sure to keep the school office updated about your current e-mail address in order to have access to Parent Link.
The telephone broadcast system provided by SIScall enables school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start. The service may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders.
