If you are looking for some music and arts activities to do during our current closure, try the following:

Metropolitan Opera Nightly Stream

Each night, the Metropolitan Opera will air past performances of famous operas. This might be a fun to way to expose your family to Opera.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra Kids

The DSO has a great webpage just for kids. Learn about orchestra instruments, famous composers, and learn how to make your own instrument. They also have a very thorough set of activites/lessons about the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Click on Beethoven at 250 for more information and activities you could do at home. If you click on the Teachers tab and select “resources and lesson plans”, you will see a number of lesson ideas. Kindergarten might enjoy the Peter and the Wolf lessons, since we studied that piece this year.

Kennedy Center Arts Edge

This page has arts-centered lessons you can filter by age and subject. The lesson plans are easy to follow and a lot of them could be done at home.

Smithsonian Music

This page is filled with information about all types of music!  They often link to pictures/information from the Smithsonian’s extensive collection.

San Francisco Symphony Kids

Learn about the orchestra, play music games, and more. This website requires Adobe Flash.

Peg + Cat Music Maker

Practice musical skills with Peg + Cat! PBS Kids also has other music games your child may enjoy.

New York Philharmonic Kids Zone
